Olivia Ponton, the 19-year-old model and content creator, has 7.8 million TikTok followers and 3.5 million Instagram followers. This March 29, she launched a limited-edition collaboration with 8-year-old makeup brand Nudestix, in the form of the brand’s Nudies Bloom blush in the shade Sweet Cheeks. In addition, Ponton has worked with Nudestix as a brand ambassador and investor since March 2022. We chatted with Ponton about her approach to minimal everyday makeup, her Nudestix collab and her favorite TikTok beauty trend.
What’s your everyday makeup routine?
“My inspiration for my day-to-day makeup is just enhancing what I already have. I really like using makeup because it’s an enhancer of beauty. The least amount of makeup that I can wear is ideal for me, especially since I get my makeup done so often on set. Makeup artists put pounds of makeup on me and I don’t get a choice, so on my day-to-day, I love wearing lightweight products. That’s why I love blushes so much, because they make it look like you’re trying without wearing a ton of makeup.”
Why did working with Nudestix appeal to you?
“It was because of how easy-to-use the products are and the fact that their products are cream-based. Before I joined Nudestix as an investor, I was looking for a makeup brand that had cream-based products. I could only find brands that have certain products that are cream-based, but not all. Nudestix products are all cream-based, which is something so special, especially for me. Looking like a glazed donut is always what I aspire to be.”
What was your inspiration for your Nudestix blush?
“It was the after-beach glow. Growing up in Naples, Florida, every day, I had a natural sun-kissed look because I was outside all the time. When I moved to Los Angeles, I lost it a bit. Then when I moved to New York, I really lost it. That’s when a fake tan became a big part of my life. When I was creating my shade for Nudestix, I was looking for something that replicated the sun-kissed glow that I was missing. My friends were talking about it yesterday, how well [the product] complements your skin after you’re at the beach or when you’re trying to make it look like, ‘Oh yeah, I was just in Cabo with my friends.’ It’s a really good shade and product for a more natural [look].”
Where will your partnership with Nudestix go from here?
“Nudestix is very involved with sustainability, and so am I. I can’t share anything that is in the works, exactly, but I will say that sustainability is one of the top pillars of the brand and that we both care about it. The packaging is biodegradable within two years from when it gets put in the trash. There’s also the reef-safe sunscreen that Nudestix recently came out with.”
What was the inspiration behind your TikTok’ed beauty look on day one of Coachella?
“I was going for something a bit crazier. I definitely used more color, with the Euphoric Nudes palette. The highlighter in the shade Euphorix is insane. The pigmentation and the way it glows — it’s not like a normal highlighter. It takes your look to that next level, especially when you’re doing festival makeup. The highlight in this shade reflects off a few different colors — there are hints of blue, pink and purple. So I built my look around that.”
Are there any TikTok beauty trends you’re eying now?
“Definitely [influencer] Meredith Duxbury’s foundation challenge. She does makeup videos where she soaks her skin in foundation, and I’ve never done that, especially because Nudestix products are natural and cream-based. So I want to try that one out. She rubs her hands together and rubs foundation on her face, like a moisturizer. I don’t know how it would look on me.”
What else are you working on now?
“I am a Sports Illustrated rookie, and we’re having our event and party situation in Hollywood, Florida coming up in the next few weeks, so I’m very excited about that.”
