One of the most well-known, now-iconic beauty gurus of our time, Huda Kattan started off her career in 2010 with a newsletter she only sent to her friends. Over time, Kattan’s newsletter developed into a beauty blog where she shared her best makeup tips and DIYs. Kattan’s passion turned into her iconic cosmetics brand, Huda Beauty, in 2013. Here, she began to create products of her own while tapping into new and innovative industry trends. Nearly a decade later, Kattan’s brand is still reigning in the beauty industry. Why did you decide to bring a brand into this crowded marketplace?
We started with Huda Beauty with false eyelashes because while I was working as a makeup artist I was always cutting and piecing together different lashes for my clients and everyone would always ask me where I got the lashes from. So my sisters encouraged me to create my own lashes for people to purchase. When they did so well, we decided expand into a full cosmetics line, one launch at a time.
What makes the brand different?
At Huda Beauty we aim to be a leader in creating a democratized beauty industry where power is given back to people to define, create, and enjoy beauty for themselves.
Fun fact: My sister Alya gave me a loan of $6k to follow my dream of starting my own brand!
